Drowning Prevention Week
WONKY were asked by the Royal Life Saving Society UK to help promote their ‘Drowning Prevention Week’ campaign, one of the largest summer water safety campaign across the UK and Ireland. This campaign is designed to explore a range of opportunities to proactively raise awareness of water safety ahead of a summer outdoors to encourage more children to have fun and enjoy water safely. We helped with the script, designed the characters, sourced the voice over, composed the music and, of course, animated the film.
The fantastic character designs were by the talented Hanna. You can see more of her work here.
RESULTS
The animation was the top post across all of the Royal Life Saving Society UK’s social media channels during Drowning Prevention Week A survey showed that it resonated strongly with parents, with four in five parents agreeing that the animation made them think again about water safety. The animation was found to reinforce their core positioning: focusing on enjoying water safety and expert credentials.
“We wanted to create something that delivered a very important message but in a fun and engaging way and the team certainly helped us achieve that. They were very professional from start to finish, understood exactly what we wanted and had a good grasp of the charity.
With the help of WONKY we have been able to create two extremely successful animations which have been shared far and wide across social media and delivered messages to families about water safety. Research has shown that the latest animation has changed the way parents think about water safety, a hugely positive outcome.
The animations have also now started to influence other aspects of the charity as we use the characters created in further educational materials. We are sure we will work with WONKY again in the future.” – Head of Charity Communications, RLSS
